Once upon a time...

storyphotoRecently I returned to a clients house where a few months ago, I worked with them in designing their mudroom.  The last time I had seen the foyer, these cubbies were empty.  I knew my client would do a great job settling into her space and she did not disappoint.   When I walked in and saw this it made my heart burst.  I was so happy to see their lives curated and their story being told in these little boxes. I love the narrative here and I think it speaks volumes of the wonderful people who live there. Clearly you can not fit all of ones life into a 3x3 box but sometimes it's enough space to keep only what you need to be reminded of.

Feeling Blue

bluephotoTwo different clients, two really different styles, same silvery blue.  Benjamin Moore, Needle Point Navy is one of my favorite go-to shades. It plays so nicely with other colors, but can also hold it's own with a simple graphic pattern. Traditional or Modern, it does what it is told.  Oh I know one should not get so excited about the versatility of the color blue but I do. After all, I am a total color nerd.

Drawing Outside the Lines

drawingphoto.jpgWhen my friends sent me this photo of their daughter I could not help but fall in love with it. Maybe because it found me in the midst of the sort of day that I was feeling a bit stuck. (Or perhaps because I am huge pile of sentimental mush) Either way I have been staring at it a lot.  I love the freedom and imperfection of the etchings- standing in perfect contrast to her earnest approach. Draw, move a bit, draw some more, repeat. The fact that she is not afraid to stand on her tippy-toes for good measure kills me.  I am pretty sure we are smartest when we are children.

Up & Away

main thumbnail imageI have been exploring Maine more often recently. Although I have lived here for a 8 years, (yikes, time flies) I have not devoted the proper amount of time to buzzing about locally. In an effort to rectify this, and thanks to two very good friends, I spent some of the prettiest days I could imagine, along and off the mid-coast this fall. Both of these beautiful gals are not only style goddesses, but amazing company to be around.

The first being Meg, her family has had land and 6 lovely rustic cabins on the island of North Haven for a billion-trillion years. It's frozen in time and unlike anything I have ever seen. Ooozing with charm and sophistication. We spent one glorious day rearranging one of the houses. I was in heaven. * More pictures to follow. fingers crossed, we may do the remaining 5. The other friend is Jan, who has a home up in Tenants Harbor. The property sits among the prettiest woods and is such a retreat. She is my "hostess hero" who not only graciously shares her home but also her story.

Apartment Therapy

So. One morning not long ago, I was drinking my coffee and looking at the blog site Apartment Therapy (It's one of my faves, and I shamelessly pour over it often) and I randomly submitted photos of my house. Either I had a) too much coffee OR b) not enough. Regardless, I did it with a carefree heart and did not think about it after.( Which is weird because I can obsess like no one's business.) Two weeks later I was elated to find an email from them saying they were going to run it. What? Lucky Me. I Hugged & High- Five'd poor Sid. Such an honor to be on the site, it REALLY made me happy. Get a life, right? Ta Da: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/boston/tours/kristas-capatains-house-house-call-157903.
